No. 1 Secret to Succeed in your Business

After a busy first half of February, the second half can be said to be slow. Perhaps, I'm still in a holiday mood given the recent Chinese New Year celebration here, which included a long 4-day weekend and public holidays.

My SBI! site building will be on hold I guess until next month - that is, if I can find the time.

My day-job's work load had just increased by three-fold, thanks to the holidays.

And business for my "sideline" travel company had picked up steam, thanks to Visit Malaysia Year 2007 promotion. I've yet to organise my team at the office on tackling the daily tasks more efficiently in spite of increasing travel requests.

And a lot of planned strategies have not been implemented yet due to time constraint not just on my part, but also my staff had been simply too busy lately entertaining clients.

This made me think that maybe, business will always be a challenge.

When business is slow, you start to feel nervous. And when business picks up, you feel concerned, especially for your overworked staff and plans that had to be KIVed.

I guess that's what business is all about. A real challenge - from building to marketing, and from management to operation.

On top of knowledge and innovation, you just need a lot of motivation and perseverance.

To succeed I guess, is really easy - just keep going and never give up.

But for most of us, we just can't keep up with this challenge - we just can't sustain what we've been doing the past 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, etc.

If most of us can sustain the pressure and workload, there'll be a lot of millionaires around today.

From my own personal experience, the no. 1 secret to business success (or secrets if you prefer), all boils down to two "factor conditions" - your passion and health.

Everyone knows that you need passion to start a business, but you also need the same passion (or even more passion) to carry on. It's very easy for your passion to die off as the years pass and your environment changes.

But health I strongly believe is the most important ingredient to success.

Without a good health, your mind won't be innovative and you can't gain knowledge.

Without a good health, you don't have the energy to presevere and stay motivated.

Without a good health, you can't run your business no matter how passionated you are.

I hope to keep both factor conditions up at tip top level, at least for another 10 years or so?

Okay, enough of my end-of-the-week babbling. I need to turn off my computer now as too much of it is not good for my health.

But I hope that the above will make some sense to some readers of this blog.

Have a great weekend.

A website is never complete

I've been rather busy the past 10 days or so, adding new webpages (content) into my my SBI! site.

In fact, added only 1 Tier 2 page, but about 7 Tier 3 pages, plus edited/amended/improved around 10 other existing web pages (not sure what's a Tier 2 or 3 pages? Think Pyramid).

Yes, it has been awhile since I added some fresh content/pages (September 2006).

But, a website is never complete - it should be a continuous building process.

Because...,

Once you suddenly have the faintest idea that your business website is completed, your business is as good as coming to an end.

Add a 'd' to 'complete'..., and your website will be 'dead'.

I guess an excellent example in this case is the many websites that were built for Adsense (BFA).

Most were either automatically generated with nonsense content, or built using Private Label Rights (PLR) content and templates - not too unique and actually most content are not well written if you ever noticed (even my young kids can write better, and they are not really English educated).

The generated ones are as good as completed once the script kicks in.

The PLR ones are as good as completed once the niche content runs out.

In both instances, the webmasters stopped building their sites.

Hence, they are finished - so does their business (or income) usually.

By the way, do you really consider a BFA site, a business site?

I don't.

Cause, there's no business process or system in them.

Oh..., maybe they think that a business is solely about making money? Monetizing from Adesense?

I believe for this reason alone, that's why so many businesses failed - mainly because they are not a business in the first place - and I'm not only refering to BFA sites.

Figure that one out yourself.
